About Us

The Bay Village Community Band was organized in the spring of 1978 through the inspiration of then Mayor, James Cowles to have a home town band.  He engaged Roland Hosmer, retired Bay High School Band Director to get the group started.  Sever months after the band was organized, Mr. Hosmer called upon Thomas Hill, a member of the band, to become co-director.  Mr. Hill took over the sole directorship following Mr. Hosmer’s death in 1986.  During the band’s history, the band has performed in over 400 concert programs.

The band’s repertoire consists of a wide variety of musical compositions including:

  • Marches
  • Overtures
  • Patriotic Songs
  • Waltzes
  • Pop Tunes
  • Musicals
  • Show Tunes
  • Music for the Movies
  • Big Band (30’s, 40’s 50’s, 60’s etc)
  • Children’s Songs

The Band is composed of over 70 musicians ranging in age from middle school students to senior citizens and is currently conducted by Music Director, Mr. Dave Hager. Rehearsals meet on specific Wednesday evenings in March through early December from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Bay Middle School, 27725 Wolf Road in Bay Village, Ohio.

Because all Band members donate their talent and time for the rehearsals, they are fast-paced and designed to efficiently use that time. Bay Village Community Band performances are intended for audiences of all ages. Over the years we have performed at community festivals, shopping malls, retirement homes, outdoor gazebos, and the U.S. Navy Department, but most performances are held in the City of Bay Village.

If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a member of our band, or need more information about our concert schedule, you may contact the Band via email at info@bvcb.org.
